HIPPEAS is a fast-growing CPG snack company known for its delicious chickpea-based snacks. We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team.
This role will support the day-to-day accounting operations of the business as well as the monthly close process. The ideal candidate has hands-on accounting experience within the CPG, food & beverage, or consumer products industry and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
· Process vendor invoices accurately and timely, including proper GL coding, department allocation, and supporting documentation.
· Review invoices for appropriate approvals in accordance with company policies.
· Assist with weekly payment processing and vendor inquiries.
· Review vendor statements and research discrepancies, duplicate invoices, credits, and outstanding balances.
· Maintain accurate vendor records and support AP aging reviews.
Month-End Close & General Ledger
· Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries as part of the monthly close process.
· Prepare monthly account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
· Assist with accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts.
· Review general ledger activity for unusual or incorrectly coded transactions.
· Assist the Senior Accountant and Controller with ensuring an accurate and timely monthly close.
· Maintain appropriate supporting documentation for journal entries and account reconciliations.
Bank & Cash Reconciliations
· Prepare monthly bank and cash reconciliations.
· Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
· Assist with recording cash activity and ensuring transactions are properly reflected in the general ledger.
· Support cash reporting and other treasury-related accounting activities as needed.
Inventory, COGS & Intercompany Accounting
· Support inventory and cost-of-goods-sold accounting and reconciliations.
· Assist with inventory-related journal entries and month-end reporting.
· Assist with freight, warehousing, logistics, and other CPG-related expense reconciliations.
· Assist in the UK month end close process, reconciliate intercompany accounts, and help maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with UK GAAP.
Audit & Compliance
· Assist with year-end audit requests and preparation of supporting schedules.
· Maintain organized accounting records and documentation in accordance with company policies.
· Support the Senior Accountant and Controller with internal controls and process improvements.
· Assist with 1099 preparation and other accounting compliance requirements as needed.
Other Responsibilities
· Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting.
· Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes.
· Partner with members of Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and other departments to resolve accounting issues.
· Support additional accounting and finance projects as the company continues to grow.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
· 2–4 years of accounting experience preferred.
· Previous CPG experience required; food & beverage or snack industry experience strongly preferred.
· Strong understanding of accounting principles and general ledger accounting.
· Hands-on experience with accounts payable, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations.
· Experience supporting a monthly close process.
· Familiarity with inventory and COGS accounting is strongly preferred.
· Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and working with large datasets.
· Experience with an ERP or accounting system required.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable working cross-functionally.
What Success Looks Like
The successful Staff Accountant will help maintain accurate and timely financial records, contribute to an efficient month-end close, ensure balance sheet and bank accounts are properly reconciled, and become a dependable accounting partner to the Senior Accountant and Controller.
This role is ideal for someone who has built a strong accounting foundation within the CPG industry and is looking for an opportunity to expand their experience across AP, general ledger accounting, inventory, COGS, and the monthly close process.
Compensation & Work Arrangement
Base Salary: $70,000–$85,000 base annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid, with an expectation of working from the office 2 days per week and remotely the remaining days, subject to business needs.
