About the Role
HIPPEAS is seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on Accounting Manager to join our Finance & Accounting team. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position will be responsible for supporting the month-end close process, preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, maintaining accurate general ledger records, and ensuring the timely completion of key accounting activities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in general accounting, experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry, and the ability to independently manage assigned responsibilities. This role is well suited for an experienced accounting professional looking to take greater ownership of accounting processes while contributing to improvements in efficiency and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, reclassifications, and other month-end adjustments.
Prepare and review assigned balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of reconciling items.
Review general ledger transactions to identify coding errors, unusual balances, and necessary adjustments.
Assist with monthly P&L reviews and investigate variances as needed.
Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
Own monthly reconciliations of Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) sales activity, including Shopify transactions.
Reconcile sales, discounts, refunds, returns, sales taxes, payment processing fees, and cash settlements.
Perform monthly reconciliations of corporate American Express (AmEx) accounts.
Support daily AP and AR accounting activities as needed.
Assist with preparing monthly financial reporting schedules and supporting analyses.
Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for annual financial statement audits.
Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
Support the Controller with accounting-related projects and ad hoc requests.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required.
4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including experience as a Senior Accountant.
CPG, food and beverage, or consumer products industry experience strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Experience with month-end close processes.
Experience with Shopify or other e-commerce accounting platforms preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and reconciliations.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar ERP system preferred.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
CPA or CPA candidate is a plus, but not required.
